The AMWA fun weekend will be held at a new location in picturesque Derbyshire in 2024.
WSA Dryland World Championship 2024
The committee have been working really hard behind the scenes in conjunction with the World Sleddog Association and we are super excited to announce that Great Britain and AMWA will be hosting the 2024 world dry land Championships at Haughley Park in Suffolk on 23rd and 24th November 2024.
Please put this date in the diary and come and race with mushers from all over Europe.
There is lots still to do in organising such a great event, so the organising team may well be approaching members for your help.
Rally - Haughley Park - End of season, 3 stage
We have the opportunity to return to this popular venue !
Come and enjoy this lovely venue with some technical trails The main trail is set at 3.1 miles through a private tree lined country estate, with lots of twists and turns to keep both mushers and dogs on their toes.
Long Distance Trek - Great Ridge
AMWA invite purebred registered sleddogs and rescue sleddogs with approved rescue numbers to take part in one of long distance treks in the beautiful Fonthill Estate, by king permission of Lord Margadale. Come join us for a relaxed working experience driving your dogs in a leisurely fashion over a variety of available distances.

AMWA invite purebred registered sleddogs and rescue sleddogs with approved rescue numbers to take part in one of our signature events, long distance trekking on Salisbury plain. Come join us for a relaxed working experience driving your dogs in a leisurely fashion over a variety of available distances, the trails offer the dogs and mushers a variety of challenges which always vary due to the nature of the plains and the weather conditions.
Rally - Haughley Park
Come and try out this lovely new venue.
The main trail is approximately 2.8 miles (subject to weather conditions) through a private tree lined country estate, with lots of twists and turns to keep both mushers and dogs on their toes
Rally - Harling, Thetford Forest
The trails are mainly on grass with limited sections running across fire trails which are of a
hard compacted sandy surface. Most of the course is generally flat.
The estimated trail length is circa 2.7 miles

Once Again we return to this stunning setting in Kent for a relaxing weekend in a dog friendly environment
Forest of Dean Walking Weekend
Come and join AMWA on a meandering walk through the Forest of Dean.
Walking through ancient woodland, along wide paths, this interesting walk will take you across the River Wye, with spectacular views. The routes vary from 4 to 12 miles and with something suitable for every member of the club.
Haughley Park Rally
End of Season AMWA rally and WSA World Cup event.
Come join the fun at the fantastic trails available at Haughley Park, this end of season rally follows standard AMWA rules for entries. Those with WSA driver numbers can also earn World Cup points at this event.

Come join AMWA for a relaxing weekend running your dogs in Dyfnant Forest which is in a part of Wales renowned for its rolling hills, lush green valleys and picturesque farmsteads and villages.
With 2 distances to choose from 9.5 miles and 13.5 miles you can kick back running your dogs at your own leisure. full details are available in the event brochure below.

Halloween Rally - Night /Day and WSA World Cup race

AMWA cordially invites you to our traditional season opening rally at Warren Wood in Thetford Forest, a new event location for this season providing a change of trail to shake things up. The trail will be circa 3 miles long and consist of the usual Thetford trail conditions of relatively flat soft loam trails with grass coverings in most places. Sat night kicks the first leg off to give the race a spooky start (Halloween Dress optional) so don’t forget to charge those lights followed by the second leg Sunday morning. AMWA Training Camp
AMWA are delighted to invite Members and Non Members to a brand new camp where you can train your dogs at your leisure. Courtesy of The Byerley Stud Estate there will be 3 trail distances available to get your dogs fit and flying for the start of the season. A short trail of approx 1.5 miles a longer trail of circa 3 miles and a long trail around 4-6 miles.
All abilities will be accommodated for, with the ability for newbies and older / slower teams able to run at different times to larger faster teams.
The trails are undulating grassy trails and exact distances will be published at the event.
So come join us for a relaxed camp, with booking available on a daily basis allowing you to pick the dates which suit you best within the event time frame.
AMWA Fun Weekend
Come and relax in The Meadows, set in the quiet Kent countryside close to Ashford.
We have the added bonus this year of a small woodland with a river flowing through, ideal for doggie dipping to cool off those paws.
Talks, quiz night and AGM will be held in a stunning 18th century barn, Fun dog show held in The Meadow, let’s GLOW evening stroll.
“It's not all about the dogs” sports event, time to get those bodies moving and have some fun.
Cheddar Backpack Weekend
Come and join AMWA on a challenging walk around the famous Cheddar Gorge.
The walk follows a cliff top path around Cheddar Gorge. Consisting of some steep ascents & descents, this challenging walk will reward you with fantastic views of the gorge and out across the Somerset levels to Glastonbury Tor to the east to the Bristol Channel and Exmoor to the west.
We leave the rally field down on the Somerset levels and head towards the Mendip hills; we follow the route around the gorge arriving at the pub, nestling in the gorge, for lunch. We then follow footpaths and roads through the village or take a longer route via the local reservoir back to the campsite.
